Uzbekistan: Development of Tourism in Khorezm

During the period of implementation of "Program of development of tourism in the Khorezm region of 2013-2015"adopted by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 20, 2013 was done a lot of work in Khorezm to improve the service in tourism sphere and present the tourism potential of Khorezm region.In particular, it  is important to express that during the implementation of the priorities of the Program the work to improve the tourist visits and the provision of services, the organization of historical and scientific, historical, ethnic, cultural and entertainment tours, as well as ecological tourism routes were carried out.

    Today 255 objects of cultural heritage are registered in the Khorezm region. 18 of them are archaeological, 133 are architectural, 66 are sculptural monuments and 32 are the sacred place of worship.

     Improvement work is carried out in order to create a tourist complex and to develop the fish farming, to construct infrastructure swimming pools on the shores of lakes Govukkul and Eshonravot in Khiva district. Amusement parks, hotels, catering and trade items are being built, modern attractions are being installed.

In the framework of the construction work on building 27 new hotels, reconstructing of 3 buildings as a hotel, as well as modernizing of 4 existing hotels is continuing.

The project on the construction of six sanitary items in the center of Urgench and two in Khiva area is being implemented and the construction of another 2 points is going.

Khorezm is rich in possibilities of development and diversification of tourism products, new places of recreation and leisure activities for tourists of different categories and this gives a variety of planning tour routes for tourism providers.
