Uzbekistan: Public order and safety

Ensuring the safety of citizens' lives is one of the important tasks of law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan. In the Khorezm region, purposeful work is carried out to prevent offenses and protect civil order. Undoubtedly, the reforms carried out in the system of internal affairs bodies have a positive effect. In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Measures for the Basic Improvement of the Activity of the Internal Affairs Bodies in the Sphere of Community Policing and Public Safety", a plan of measures was developed by the patrol and inspection service and the community policing of the Khorezm regional department of internal affairs.

In general, work is carried out in the markets, large shopping, entertainment and leisure complexes and centers as well as other public places in conjunction with the inspectors for prevention, road patrol service and other law enforcement agencies.

According to Major Rashid Sultanov, commander of the battalion of the patrol and inspection service of the Interior Ministry of Khorezm region, in recent years a significant flow of foreign citizens to Uzbekistan has significantly increased.Along with hospitality, appropriate measures have been taken to ensure their security and provision of services. On a permanent duty in the city of Urgench and the Khiva district there are "special patrols" equipped with mobile translators who are able to provide any necessary assistance to a foreign tourist. The graduates of universities, owning several foreign languages, deep knowledge of the history, ancient monuments and national values ​​of the Khorezm region are accepted into the ranks of the staff.

Employees of the service for tourism safety are equipped with first-aidkits, maps with a layout of historical monuments and cultural sites of Khiva. Mostly they work in the places most visited by tourists and on the territory of historical monuments, providing the guests of the region with the necessary first aid, taking them to a hospital or hotel if necessary, and also accompany lost tourists to their destination.

Such measures help not only to prevent delinquency, provide quality service to tourists, but also to bring law enforcement bodies closer to the population.
