Uzbekistan: Care for disabled people in Uzbekistan

A system on organizing medical and social aid for the elderly, pensioners, disabled people and children with disabilities has been set in Uzbekistan. Targeted social protection of vulnerable strata of society is determined by one of the priority directions of the state policy. The Order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “About the measures on further improvement of the system of state support for disabled people” in 2017, can be a vivid confirmation for this.

In the frame of the implementation of this state document, sequential works are carried out in Khorezm region.

The other day, events were organized in connection with the International Day of the Disabled in Khorezm. One of them took place in the restaurant “Visol” in Urgench city, where disabled children and people were given prosthetic-orthopedic and other means of rehabilitation.

The head of Khorezm region I.Sabirov took part and made a speech in the event.

He noted that a constant attention was paid on further development of the system of state support, medical and social assistance, improvement of the quality of life of disabled people and children, providing them with comprehensive assistance in obtaining education and employment. At the same time, the employees of the health care system and other responsible organizations take measures on the early detection and prevention of congenital and hereditary diseases.

As a result of the implemented measures, the people with disabilities became active participants in social life, successfully demonstrate their abilities at contests and sports competitions. The achievements of the Paralympic athletes, of Uzbekistan at the Paralympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 made a deep impression. They received 31 awards: 8 gold, 6 silver and 17 bronze medals and earned the recognition of the world community.

Among the participants of the event there were many talented young men and women. Zuhra Ozodboyeva and others expressed gratefulness for the provided opportunities to show their abilities, care and attention.

For a long time the applause did not stop after the speech of seven-year-old Shaido Ruzmetova, who read her poems.

Gifts were presented to the participants of the event.
