Uzbekistan: Development of health care services in Uzbekistan

The head of the Republic of Uzbekistan pays much attention to strengthening the health of the population. In Khorezm region, as a result of implementing the President’s decrees aimed at improving the healthcare system, all medical institutions have modern diagnostic and treatment equipment in their arrangement. Annually for these purposes, as well as for the reconstruction of medical institutions, considerable funds are allocated.

Based on the instructions of the Head of the Republic on the development of the primary care, positive changes has been made in this direction today. In Khorezm 65 rural family polyclinics, 18 rural medical stations and 35 emergency posts are organized. Buildings of 29 rural medical stations are provided to doctors as office housing. In addition, doctors with narrow specialization began to work in rural family clinics on five areas.

Due to prolonging the working hours in rural medical stations, family and multidisciplinary polyclinics, from 08:00 to 20:00 the opportunities of the population in primary health care are expanding.

Near to polyclinics, houses will be built for doctors. For example, in rural family clinic No.25 in Urgench district, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out. Now here works the ambulance. Houses were built for employees. This gives an opportunity to render primary medical care 24 hours a day.

Under the investment program in Urgench district, 596 million sums have been drawn, and more than 2 billion sums in Khazarasp, Khiva and Shavat districts.

The reconstruction was also carried out in the Khorezm regional branch of the Republican Centre of Emergency Medical Care.

A multidisciplinary city clinic will be put in commission by the New Year. Another new hospital will be built under the Khorezm branch of the republican specialized centre of cardiology, which includes a department of pediatric cardiosurgery with 15-seats, and also a polyclinic and a home for foreign doctors. Moreover, a joint medical institution with foreign countries will be organized. One of them, with the Russian centre of cardiovascular surgery named after A.Bakulyov, will render cardiological aid not only to the population in Khorezm, but also to the population of Karakalpakstan and Bukhara region.

Pitnak is the most distant district of Khorezm. In this city, the construction works of 128 local hospitals are being completed, and they also begin by the New Year.

Today, the sphere of healthcare in Uzbekistan is aimed to meet the highest requirements, without losing its humanitarian essence, to be able to help people to be healthy and happy.
